Foonote.com, adding 2 million National Archives scans a month, combines primary sources with a social-networking feature. You can rotate, zoom, download and annotate scanned documents. Annotations become part of the the site's database and you can also "spotlight" a document. You can also upload your own documents like WWII photes, yearbook pages, or love letters written during a war. If your ancestors came over through Ellis Island maybe you can find others on the same ship by searching through naturalization records.
