Screen Captures (aka Print Screen)

This might seem like a basic tip, but I still get questions about how to do screen captures to insert into a word document or powerpoint. There is free software out there to do this but you can easily press the "PrtScn" key on your keyboard (sometimes it is a shift key option). If you do this, you might ask yourself, where does this information go? Well, the screen is now on your clipboard. So then go to MS Word or PP and Control-v or File/Paste into your document. Then you can use your picture editing tools in Word to crop away any unwanted area. If you can't see your picture editing tools go to View/Toolbars/Picture on your menu bar. Then feel free to add arrows and text boxes like I did on the image above.

In addition, you can use the ALT key with the Print Screen. This will copy only the active window not the full screen.
