10 Steps To Getting Your Grades Online

Today I will be hosting a "technology PLC" (probably more appropriately called a CLC). If you couldn't make it, you can download 10 Steps to Getting Your Grades Online. Once you are set up it takes about 75 seconds from the time you are finishing entering grades for a new assignment till your files are being uploaded for students to access. If you didn't have time to come today, download the guide. If you need additional help, let me know. One thing I forgot to put on the tutorial is that you will need to know the web address your students will use to access the grade page. You should be able to get this address when you request your username/password. You can then link this to your teacher web page. Then at progress report time you can just enter the comment...student assigned password for grades online (or something like that).

When Parents Request Grade Reports...

Whether you have your grades online or not, sometimes parents request a grade report at all times of the year (not just every 5 weeks). You can save single student (html format) reports to attach to an email to send home. If you use the "student notes" feature of EZ Grade Pro to document student behavior, or when phone calls and emails are done you can also choose to include these comments in the report. Finally, if you also use EZGP to track attendance, you can select to include the attendance report. I am using the attendance feature this year because I can better tag student attendance...using absence excused, absence unexcused, tardy excused, tardy unexcused, music lessons, and other codes. Now in one place, I have a pretty complete picture of the student that can be shared digitally.

EZ Grade Pro-Using footnotes in your Gradebook

Sometimes teachers have the need to footnote or comment on a grade you put in your gradebook. In EZ Grade Pro, this is easy to do. After you enter a grade, you can right click and add any of the footnotes listed (click on image for bigger picture). Then when you print reports for students or parents they will see the footnote...like, "grade lowered because turned in late." If these footnotes don't work for you, then you can edit them as well. These can be useful to keep track as to why students might have lower scores in your gradebook.

EZ Grade Pro - Putting Your Grades Online

Putting your entire gradebook online is easy with EZ GradePro but it does take a bit of setting up. First, all students need a password to keep their grades confidential. Second, you need to upload the files to a server (sounds difficult but it's not) which means a file transfer program is needed (Smart FTP is recommended). Once set up, this process only takes a couple of clicks when you need to update your grades online. Click on the image to the left to see how it looks.
