The Whale Hunt is described as an experiment in human storytelling. Over 3,000 pictures were taken over a 7 day period...one every 5 seconds or so (more quickly when the situation increased the photographers heart rate). The interface is an experiment in design. Very cool. It goes to show that technology can push the boundaries of creativity.

Photo Mosaics
Did you ever want to create a photo mosaic out of one of your photos, using even more of your photos? Maybe this could be a digital camera class project. There are two free programs available that I know about. One is called AndreaMosaic and you can load your own collections or download collections to help you create your own mosaic. The other program is web-based and is called Patchworkr. You upload photos, then have to wait in the queue. It can take minutes to hours to complete your mosaic. The mosaic in this post is of my daughter. The pictures are from AndreaMosaic's free collection of photos. By the way, these can make nice gifts too!

Try the Photosynth Experience
This is mind-boggling. This application basically takes all the photos it can find on the net on one search query (this demo uses Notre Dame Cathedral) and brings them together for one visual experience. Then for something really cool it creates a 3D rendering from all the images. This is an 8-minute demo video.
