ZamZar

Have you or your students ever had the need to convert a file so you could read it, view it, share it, play it, make it iPod friendly, or manipulate it? Yes, there are many free file conversion software programs, but ZamZar is a web-based file conversion website. Just upload the file you want to convert, or enter the URL of the file on the web, or even convert YouTube videos with one click. You receive the converted file (and there are many choices) in your email account.

I think it's an awesome tool, but how do you know what file to convert it to? I wanted to go from YouTube to wmv, but I was not given that option. I had to settle for mov, which does not integrate well into powerpoint presentations. So - how do you know which extension to use, short of trying it with all possible extensions?

I didn't notice that wmv files were not an option. I typically use the mp4 option for my ipod. I know that windows media player can play avi but that is typically a larger video file. I'm sure there are tools to convert .mov or .avi to wmv but then you have to go through 2 conversions.

I found this amazing website that supports all media files conversion it is called http://youconvertit.com, they can do the following:
1- Convert document, images, audio, video and Archived files.
2- Convert any Youtube and other Online Video to popular formats or download the video
3- Send file(s) up to 300 MB to friends or post it on any forum for 7 days
4- Convert any type of units (Acceleration, Area, Torque and others)

what makes them amazing is you can add up to 5 different file formats, i used them to convert a document and couple of audio files.

Try them and give me your feedback http://www.youconvertit.com
